Wildfire Update

The evacuation order remains in full effect. The Wildfire SWF 063 did not advance significantly today.  Conditions were very smoky both in town and near the fire sight.  Wildfire crews continued to work on the fire all day.

The Town of Swan Hills Emergency Management Team and Incident Command Post remain activated. The local fire department and mutual aid partners continued to work on setting up structure protection.

We urge any evacuees who have not registered to register at the Reception Centre in Barrhead or by phone at 1-825-977-4382 or 1-825-977-1462.  We want to continue to remind evacuees that Barrhead is the registered reception centre for the town.  We want to send out a big thank you to our municipal partners in Barrhead who have been amazing.

Highway 33 North of Swan Hills to the Highway 2 intersection (Kinuso Corner) remains closed by Alberta Transportation as of 7:00 pm tonight, due to the SWF 057 fire North of Town.
