Wildfire Update
The evacuation order remains in effect. A colder front has moved in bringing showers, heavy at times. These conditions will be conducive to minimal fire behaviour for the 3 fires burning northwest and north of town (Grizzly Complex Fires). From last night to this morning, the Town received between 30 – 35 mm of rain. Crews continue to work on the fires managing hot areas and potential flare-ups with hand crews and heavy equipment continues to work on fireguard lines.
The local fire department, public works, and mutual aid partners continue to finalize fire protection initiatives in Town with the potential that most of these tanks etc., will remain in place for the duration of the fire season. All utilities remained on with no outages.
The Town has begun to move some essential personnel back to Town to begin making arrangements for a re-entry. There is currently no re-entry at the time of this post, and this will be communicated to the public once all trigger points for a safe return have been met.
